Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-09

1. Who we are & acceptance

Shotium ("Shotium", "we", "us") is a screenshot and image rendering API service available at shotium.com and api.shotium.com, operated by an independent developer. Contact: [email protected]. The operator's legal identity is available upon legitimate request (e.g. legal notices).

By creating an account, purchasing a plan or credits, or using the API, you agree to these Terms. If you use Shotium on behalf of an entity, you represent that you are authorised to bind that entity.

2. The service

Shotium renders web pages into screenshots and generates Open Graph images from templates, delivered via HTTP APIs. A billable render is any request that successfully returns an image — including responses served from our cache. Failed renders (timeouts, unreachable targets, blocked requests, storage errors) are not billed.

The service is currently in beta. We may modify, add, or discontinue features; for changes that materially reduce core functionality we will give reasonable prior notice where practicable.

3. Accounts & API keys

Sign-in is via GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for safeguarding your API keys and signing secrets; requests authenticated with your credentials are attributed to you. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect a key has been compromised — you can revoke keys instantly from your account page. One account per person or entity unless we agree otherwise.

4. Pricing, billing & credits

Current pricing is listed at /pricing. Subscriptions (Starter, Growth) are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each billing cycle until canceled. The monthly render quota resets at the start of each billing period; unused quota does not roll over. Credit packs are one-time purchases; credits never expire, are consumed only after your monthly quota is exhausted, and are non-transferable and non-redeemable for cash.

When you exceed your quota and credits, API requests return an error (HTTP 429). We never auto-charge for overage — additional capacity is only ever purchased by you, explicitly. Plan changes are performed by canceling the current subscription (effective at period end) and subscribing to the new plan.

5. Payments & merchant of record

All payments are processed by Waffo.com Limited ("Waffo Pancake"), acting as merchant of record and authorised reseller. Waffo processes payments and billing, issues receipts and invoices, collects and remits applicable transaction taxes (VAT/GST/sales tax), and handles payment disputes, chargebacks, and payment-related customer support, under its own buyer terms and privacy policy. Shotium is responsible for the product itself — its quality, functionality, delivery, and product support.

6. Refunds & cancellation

All purchases are for digital services delivered immediately upon payment. By purchasing, you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that you thereby lose any statutory right of withdrawal to the extent permitted by applicable law. Purchases are non-refundable, except where a refund is required by applicable consumer law or issued by Waffo as merchant of record.

You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period: you keep full access until then, and no further charges occur. No partial refunds are issued for the remainder of a billing period.

7. Acceptable use

You may only render content you have the right to access and capture. You must not use Shotium to:

  • capture, generate, or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, or that exploits or harms minors;
  • violate third-party rights, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights of persons appearing in captured content;
  • probe private networks or cloud metadata endpoints, or otherwise attempt to bypass our SSRF protections and security controls;
  • circumvent third-party access controls, paywalls, or technical protection measures, or capture content in violation of a third party's terms where doing so is unlawful;
  • circumvent rate limits, quotas, or billing — including by creating multiple accounts to farm sign-up credits;
  • resell or white-label raw access to the service without our written consent.

AI & automation: automated and AI-agent use of the API is welcome and fully supported — the same rules above apply to automated traffic, and you remain responsible for what your automation does. We do not use your rendered content or API inputs to train AI models.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy (see Section 10).

8. Support

Product support is provided by email at [email protected]. Target response times: ordinary product questions within 2 business days; urgent issues materially affecting your access within 24 hours; security incidents and payment-risk matters as soon as reasonably practicable, generally within 12–24 hours. Billing, invoice, and refund inquiries are handled by Waffo as merchant of record.

9. Disclaimers & liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability during beta. Rendered output depends on third-party web content we do not control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, revenue, or data. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms is capped at the amounts you paid to us (via Waffo) in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct.

You will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the service.

10. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you materially breach these Terms (including the acceptable use policy), create fraud, security, or legal risk, or if required by law or our payment partners. Where practicable we will notify you and give you an opportunity to cure. Upon abuse-based termination, remaining credits are forfeited; otherwise Section 6 (cancellation semantics) applies. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time via [email protected].

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will give reasonable advance notice by posting on this page (and by email where appropriate). Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the service and cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.

12. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections of your place of residence. Disputes shall be submitted to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong. The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute informally via [email protected].

13. General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remainder stays in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the pricing page, are the entire agreement between you and Shotium regarding the service. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the service, provided your rights are not materially reduced.

14. Contact

See /contact for all support, billing, privacy, and legal channels, or email [email protected].
